Re: Kevin Keen
A true West Ham legend gave us long service, mostly at a decent level and a most skilfully, graceful player. His biggest weakness........ was his barnet.

Sven

Re: Kevin Keen
He split opinion amongst our supporters when he played for us. Personally, I liked him, and it was rather telling after he left that we created fewer chances. His 'assists' record was very good when he was a regular but we definitely struggled afterwards for a season or two.

Re: Kevin Keen
He put Dylan Tombides on the bench but because we were so shit and 3-0 down didn't give him a run out.
Don't blame him for that but sad in hindsight

Re: Kevin Keen
Keen was without doubt one of the best players I have ever seen at trapping a ball and brining it under control, he could kill any ball dead no matter how hard or high it was kicked to him.

A nice direct player, always looked to attack and do something with it, but ultimately was to lightweight and not good enough at the top level.

Was a good player for us though and I liked him, we got good money from Wolves for him too.

Re: Kevin Keen
As mentioned before, he was part of that team during my most enjoyable times as a West Ham supporter.
He was superb when we smashed Sunderland 5-0

Never top class, but always committed and a West Ham boy.
Let himself down a bit when he took charge of the final game v Sunderland by picking most of the shite that had got us relegated, and not blooding the youth.

Good luck Bandy-Legs

Re: Kevin Keen
We used to call him Kevin Wobbly Head... I don't think he had very good neck muscles.... unlike the Bish who had a neck of a titan

Re: Kevin Keen
A lot of supporters got on his back but he wasn't a bad player. He allowed himself to get harried a lot, and he frequently went on these Jimmy Neighbour-esque mazy midfield forays into fuck knows where numerous times. Second tier was about his level really.

He played more on the left didn't he?

Re: Kevin Keen
Apart from the obvious difference in physique for me he was a bit like Antonio now, being that he played right wing and often got himself into very good posistions without really being convincing in getting there. As said earlier, he use to set up a lot of goals and bagged his fair share too. Was never really much kop though.

thought he and Robson were unlucky not to get at least a shot at the Premier League afterr being so vital to ur promotion

"He was on the same kind of level as Ian Bishop "

Fuck off

Re: Kevin Keen
He scored some cracking goals, did our Kev - volleys, diving headers, the lot. He was a very talented footballer.

He was on the same kind of level as Ian Bishop - a player capable of humiliating the opposition at a lower level but at the top level always looked lightweight and ineffective.

Re: Kevin Keen
Take a look at a season hightlights video from 89-93. You'll see the INORDINATE amount of goals he set up.

A lot of changes happening at Colchester at the moment......especially at youth/academy level.

Re: Kevin Keen
I quite liked kinky when he was playing.

He may have been lightweight, but he wasn't a bad footballer and was around in my favourite era of following the club.

The owner bloke is big pals with Kevin Watson who in turn is big pals with Sheringham.

Re: Kevin Keen
As I read it they had a bit of a discussion after relegation and he decided to leave after hearing about the 'new direction' proposed.

Re: Kevin Keen
He did a half decent job there, I thought. Their results picked up after his arrival for sure, just not quite enough to get them out of the shit they were already in.

Strange decision.
